The Deaf Action Center has partnered with the Louisiana Commission for the Deaf to loan hearing and speech equipment without fees to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or speech disabled. Also interpreting services available, video relay services, between doctor and patients or business to business. Sign language classes available, and they also test and certify interpreters on many different levels.

New Horizons Independent Living Center (NHILC) is a private, non-profit, non-residential, consumer controlled, community-based organization that exists to provide the supports and services for people with disabilities to live in their own homes and communities. Our mission is: "enabling people with disabilities to live independently ... "

The Five Independent Living Core services are: Information and Referral, Peer Counseling, Skills Training, Advocacy, and Transition. Our other services are Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, Employment Services, The Green Program (free durable medical equipment loan program), Attendant Training, and Attendant Services.
